IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) is one of the most effective fertility treatments, helping individuals and couples achieve pregnancy when conception is not possible naturally.
At Northway Clinic, every patient receives an individualised treatment plan. The most appropriate assisted reproductive technique is selected based on the patient’s health condition, diagnosis, and previous treatment history.
Our reproductive medicine specialists use evidence-based treatment methods, advanced embryology laboratory technologies, and a personalised approach to help achieve the best possible treatment outcome.
IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) is an assisted reproductive treatment in which an egg is fertilised with sperm in a laboratory. The resulting embryo is then transferred into the uterus.
IVF is recommended when natural conception is not possible or when other fertility treatments have not achieved the desired result.
At Northway Clinic, every treatment plan is tailored individually, taking into account the patient’s health, age, and the underlying cause of infertility.
ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) is an IVF technique in which an embryologist injects a single sperm directly into an egg using specialised micromanipulation equipment to facilitate fertilisation.
This method is most commonly used in cases of severe male factor infertility or when fertilisation has failed or been insufficient during a previous IVF cycle.
When is ICSI recommended?
- Severely reduced sperm count.
- Reduced sperm motility or poor sperm quality.
- Sperm obtained through TESA or MicroTESE procedures.
- Failed or insufficient fertilisation in a previous IVF cycle.
- Other individual cases, following assessment by a fertility specialist.
Every treatment plan is individualised to ensure the most appropriate fertilisation method is selected for each patient.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is one of the simplest and least invasive fertility treatments. During the procedure, specially prepared sperm are placed directly into the uterine cavity around the time of ovulation, increasing the chances of fertilisation.
The procedure is quick, virtually painless, and usually does not require anaesthesia. Depending on the individual situation, IUI can be performed during a natural menstrual cycle or combined with ovulation stimulation.
When may IUI be suitable?
IUI may be recommended in the following cases:
- Mild male factor infertility (reduced sperm count or motility).
- Ovulation disorders after successful correction.
- Cervical factor infertility.
- Unexplained infertility.
- When donor sperm is required to achieve pregnancy.
Types of IUI
- IUI with partner’s sperm – laboratory-prepared sperm from the patient’s partner are used.
- IUI with donor sperm – the procedure is performed using donor sperm in accordance with medical indications and Latvian legislation.
To improve the chances of achieving pregnancy and to select the most appropriate treatment strategy, fertility specialists may recommend additional advanced technologies in selected cases. Their use is always assessed individually.
